One thing you might note on your calendars is the free fishing days in the state of Illinois from June 8-11. This is a great time for you to take the kids or grandkids out for a great fishing adventure. This can be a wonderful time for you and your family.

It has been a pretty dry spring in Bureau County so far, but this week we finally caught up. I talked to DNR fish biologist Ken Clodfelter about the fishing in the canal and he reported that in the last two weeks, the bass fishing has been a little slow, the bluegill fishing has been somewhat spotty and the crappie are starting to come on. Several catches of 10-11 crappie have been reported.
