Eucharistic minister Walt Marini participates in the imposition of ashes at 6:30 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony Church in Spring Valley Wednesday. Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season for Christians, which will culminate with Easter Sunday on April 8. Ashes were used in Biblical times to express mourning and repentance.
