PRINCETON — Felicia R. Sykes, 23, of Worth has been sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty in Bureau County Court to the Class 2 felony of burglary.

Sykes entered her guilty plea Feb. 16 before Associate Circuit Judge C.J. Hollerich. In addition to the prison sentence, Sykes was also ordered to pay $2,944 in restitution and court costs by July 19, 2013.

Sykes was also certified by the court to be eligible for the Impact Incarceration Program within the Department of Corrections. The boot camp-style program is designed for youthful non-violent offenders. Inmates in the four- or six-month program receive physical training, alcohol and drug counseling, and education. If Sykes successfully completes the program, her prison sentence will be considered served. If she is not successful in the program or is not accepted into the program, she will serve her prison sentence as ordered.

On Nov. 4, 2011, a Princeton store experienced a theft of electronic items. The security video revealed two persons had entered the premises and removed items without paying for them. On Nov. 9, 2011, a similar incident occurred in LaSalle County. Sykes and Demetrios Bracey were arrested after they matched the description of the persons on the video at the Princeton store.

Sykes is also facing charges in LaSalle County for burglary and theft. She was convicted of retail theft in 2010 in DuPage County.

Sykes was represented in court by Public Defender Michael Henneberry. Prosecuting the case was State’s Attorney Patrick Herrmann.
