SPRING VALLEY — The Hall High School Board took action on the following items at its meeting Feb. 15:

• Adopt the School Calendar for 2012-13. Superintendent Mike Struna said the calendar is similar to the 2011-12 calendar. Students will begin on Aug. 16, and graduation is set for May 18.

• Heard the first reading of the Professional Development Plan for 2012-13. The plan is to dismiss school every Friday at 2 p.m. for meetings and planning, instead of dismissing at 2 p.m. two Wednesdays each month as is currently being done. Struna said the majority of the staff approved the plan, and he will gather some input from parents before the board votes next month.

• Approved participating in the 20122 Illinois Youth Survey, as requested by Community Partners Against Substance Abuse coalition. Struna said Hall hasn’t participated before, but both Ladd and Spring Valley Elementary do. The one hour test is anonymous, and Assistant Principal Eric Bryant said students are “surprisingly honest” in their responses.

• Scheduled a Calendar Waiver Hearing for 5:45 p.m. March 21. The board also scheduled three student discipline hearings, to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday.
