PRINCETON — The Princeton Arts Academy will open its door in March in the former Harley-Davidson building on East Backbone Road in Princeton..

“We are here to educate, encourage and enrich the lives of our students and our community,” said Lianna Hall, the academy’s program coordinator. “Students of all ages and levels of experience can enjoy art instruction designed to help to engage in the creative process and develop their skills. From individualized instruction designed for the trained artist to introductory group classes in a fun, supportive environment, we offer something for everyone.”

The academy’s premier set of classes will begin March 5. They will be offered four days a week.

Hall will teach most of the classes offered at the academy including fashion sketching, costume design, modern art, art exploration through literature, and art by artists M.C. Eshcer, Laurel Burch and Andy Warhol.

Hall will also teach other classes dealing with introduction to sewing to a more advanced sewing class. Phil Denner and Danielle Denner, who have recently moved to this area from Wheaton, will lead guitar lessons and an introduction to photography class.

“We want to help students do more than they can get in school,” said Hall, who received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Illinois Institute of Arts in Chicago and is working on a master’s degree in elementary education. She is Princeton High School graduate.

“Princeton is a good incubator for the arts,” she added. “I feel art education is extremely important. We are here for kids who want more than they can get in school.”
