Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you have some fun and romantic things planned for the day. While I’d like to urge you to buy your Valentine treats locally, don’t forget there are a host of things you can do that don’t cost a ton of money ...
Bake some cookies or another sweet treat for your neighbors; get out the construction paper and make an old-fashioned, homemade Valentine for a senior citizen; buy a couple dozen carnations and head to the local nursing home to brighten several residents’ day ... I guarantee your tokens of love and friendship will surely put — in some cases — a much-needed smile on some faces.

Customer Service Kudos: Do you know an individual or business who delivers great customer service? If so, I’d like to tell other readers about your experience. Email your Kudos to tsimon@bcrnews.com or give me a call at 815-8875-4461, ext. 229. Following are the Kudos I received this week:
• Irene and Paul said their Kudos go to Noah Irizarry, a sixth-grader in Princeton. “Noah found out it was our 64th wedding anniversary on Feb. 14, and he surprised us by baking a heart-shaped cake and bringing it to the restaurant where we have coffee every morning. What a kind and thoughtful gesture for this young man to do! On top of that, it was delicious cake.”
• Tami said, “Customer Kudos to the ladies at Good Scents, Limited. They still believe that customer service is top priority. I appreciate the fact that they specialize in one thing, and their fragrances are amazing.”
• Dawn said, “My Kudos goes to BCR employees, Pam (Pratt-Marsh) and Mona (Cruse). They are both very knowledgeable, helpful, creative and went out of their way to help me. I really appreciate all of their work!”

Just a reminder: The BCR (and myself) sincerely appreciate your Letters to the Editor. It’s thrilling to know people have an opinion on a subject and are willing to share it with our readers. Letters to the Editor should not be more than 500 words in length. You should also include a telephone number where I can call you to verify you are the author of your letter.
