Shaw, Ramos named to Midland Board

EFFINGHAM – Richard T. Ramos and Thomas D. Shaw have been named to the Midland States Bancorp Inc. Board of Directors.

Ramos and Shaw have also been named to the board of Midland States Bank, the company’s wholly owned bank subsidiary.

“Midland’s rapid growth, both financially and geographically, provided us the opportunity to expand the depth and the expertise of our board,” commented Jack Schultz, chairman of the board. “Rick and Tom bring experience and knowledge that parallels the direction of the company and our bank. Shaw is president and chief executive officer of Shaw Media, headquartered in Dixon. Shaw Media was originally established in 1851 as the Dixon Telegraph and Herald and is the third oldest, continuously owned and operated media company in the nation with 60 print, online and mobile publications, as well as commercial printing and video services. Shaw, a fifth generation of the Shaw family to manage the company, began his career in 1970 and has held numerous leadership positions within the company, assuming his current position in 1993. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Ramos is executive vice president, chief financial officer and board member for Maritz Holdings Inc. in St. Louis, Mo. Maritz specializes in the design and development of incentive, reward and loyalty programs focused on improving workforce quality and customer satisfaction. Ramos joined Maritz in 2000. Prior to joining Maritz, he served as chief financial officer for Purcell Tire and Rubber Co., practiced corporate law at the firm of Blumenfeld, Kaplan and Sandweiss in St. Louis and was a senior manager at KPMG LLC. He received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. Ramos is a CPA and a member of the Missouri Bar.
